Oudenaarde is a city on the River Scheldt in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The city is located 30 km south of Ghent and has about 31,000 inhabitants. Today the city is sometimes called the pearl of the Flemish Ardennes.
Oudenaarde is home to an extensive wealth of sights from the past, including the iconic town hall, one of the finest examples of late Gothic Brabant style in our country. The partnership with Oudenaarde was officially established on 14 March 2014.
Members of the Royal Military Academy (RMA) staff or detachments are regularly delegated to Oudenaarde on the occasion of certain ceremonies such as 8 May, 21 July, 11 and 15 November.
Oudenaarde is also the arrival place of the Tour of Flanders for several years.
Dinant is a city and municipality in the Belgian province of Namur. The city lies on the river Meuse. Dinant has over 13,000 inhabitants in a total area of 99.80 kmĀ².
The partnership with Dinant was officially established on 18 March 2014.
Traditionally, a Te Deum is organised on 15 November, with a delegation from the Royal Military Academy (RMA) officiating at the Collegiate Church of Our Lady of Dinant.
Dinant is best known as the hometown of Adolf Sax, the inventor of the saxophone.
