Her Majesty Margareta, Princess of Romania and Keeper of the Crown, visited the Royal Military Academy on Thursday 21 March. Her company included His Highness Prince Radu, Romanian ambassador Andreea Păstârnac and Lieutenant General Dragoș-Dumitru Iacob.
The Romanian delegation was courteously received at the Honour Court and then received a presentation by Lieutenant Colonel Danny Snelders regarding the operations and values of our university. The guests subsequently met some staff members of Romanian and Belgian nationality, as well as the Erasmus students at the RMA from Romania. The royal couple showed great interest and took ample time to talk to them.
After this pleasant exchange, the delegation met the RMA school commander, Rear Admiral Yves Dupont. Together they signed the Golden Book, after which Prince Radu took the floor and explained more about their visit to the numerous staff members of our school present. He elaborated on the ties between Romania and Belgium, as well as the current dynamics of society. His aim was to make people aware of the current geopolitical situation in Romania and Moldova. The visit concluded with a tour of the RMA, culminating in the visit to the annual Cyber Security Challenge currently taking place on our campus. The princess was particularly interested in the topic.
