This weekend, 6 master's students in Medicine had the chance to take part in the MedCup. This is an international competition organised in Brussels to enable medical students to develop their practical skills, meet other students and speakers from abroad and test their knowledge. To this end, 9 challenges were proposed to us.
We had the chance to practise suturing, ultrasound, CT-scan analysis, cast design, catheter placement and triage. We also had to think about a management plan in the event of an epidemic, and we looked at various clinical cases throughout the different challenges.
Between challenges, we were able to rest, meet other students or visit certain stands where we could practise lumbar puncture and joint puncture. A great opportunity that we'll be recommending to our fellow students next year.
