The Royal Military Academy is entrusted with the academic, military, physical and moral education of the officers within the Department of Defence. During their stay at the Porte de Namur from 1834 onwards, at the abbey of La Cambre as of 1874 and at the avenue de la Renaissance since 1909, the students, teaching staff and instructors of the RMA accumulate an impressive historical and cultural heritage.
A team of keen former students manage the many collections comprising this heritage, organise visits to the museum and occasionally set up exhibitions. They register the tens of thousands of documents and objects in these collections, investigate historical links en write articles aimed at a broad audience. They ensure that the collections are extended systematically with new items donated by the promotions and departments en manage gifts made by former students or their family.
