This year, the weather gods decided to welcome the new promotions under a bright blue sky. A sunny start to a hopefully bright career within Defence. On 21 August, the new students of the 178th promotion Polytechnic, Special Division and Auxiliary Corps arrived at the Royal Military Academy. The following day, it was the turn of the prospective officers of the 163rd Promotion Social and Military Sciences.
After several busy days at the RMA with on the agenda several briefings, a 'drill initiation', the fitting of uniforms, a visit to the occupational doctor, and so on, the new batch left for Elsenborn on 23 August for the start of the Military Initiation Phase (MIP). In the Eastern Cantons, they will be immersed in military life during six weeks of camp. The students who pass will proudly receive their blue RMA berets at the parade of the same name on Friday 29 September 2023.
We already wish the new recruits the best of luck and hope to mould them into the 'leaders of the future' at our school.
